Paternity

Parents have legal rights, duties, and obligations concerning their children. Still, court action is often necessary to either affirm those rights or to compel appropriate support from a parent.

Some paternity issues may involve:

  • A biological mother seeking child support payments (when the identity of the father is or is not established)
  • A biological father seeking child custody or visitation rights

When paternity is determined, our firm can also help with the legal process of obtaining and enforcing child support payments, establishing conservatorship provisions, and establishing access provisions.

If you are a mother, alleged father, or other party seeking information about paternity/genetic testing in New York, contact the experience family law attorneys at Blustein, Shapiro, Rich & Barone, LLP today.
